Rick is a recognized expert in commercial real estate brokerage, development and management. Rick is proficient in investment analysis, debt structure, contract negotiations, entitlement and other related issues. Over his career, Rick has represented a number of corporate clients; completed numerous large land assemblage & entitlement projects; has principally developed a wide variety of commercial facilities; and has consulted on numerous industry issues. Rick's real strength, beyond his training and experience, is the fact that he brings an owner's perspective to any engagement and treats his client's objectives as his own.

Retail Leasing Associate

John’s primary focus is the leasing of our company’s portfolio property, the leasing of our listed properties, and the disposition of our bank-owned property. John also over sees the marketing of our commercial properties. John studied marketing and management at Grand Valley State University and currently resides in Grand Rapids.

Dan Wiegand

Property Manager

Dan joined the Midwest team in 2011 as the Property Manager. He has over 15 years of experience in construction and management in the Kalamazoo area. Dan oversees the company’s property portfolio, as well as its third-party fee management services. Dan’s responsibilities include establishing and maintaining annual operating budgets, overseeing all contracted services, tenant retention, tenant lease renewals, and new suite designs and fit-outs. From tenant negotiations, to space-planning, and construction, Dan constantly balances the best interests of the company with the on-going concerns of our tenants and partners.

Alan Demars

Controller

Alan joined Midwest Realty Group as Controller in 2011. He is responsible for financial reporting and planning. Alan oversees the accounting function and all banking relationships. Alan brings extensive experience in accounting, banking, and finance. He served as a Credit Union CFO for fourteen years and was a National Bank Examiner for the US Treasury Department. Alan is a graduate of Western Michigan University and holds a degree in Accounting.

Andrew Kernosky

Research and Marketing Assistant

Drew is a Student at Western Michigan University, currently working on his Bachelors in Finance. A Grand Rapids native, Drew has lived in West Michigan his entire life. Drew is adept in Real Estate research and Social Media. Over his career, Drew has experience in marketing campaigns and has worked in Real Estate for a year. Drew has a passion for Real Estate and for sustainable development. As a founder of two startup companies, and his background in hospitality, Drew looks forward to translating his dedication for Customer Service into the Real Estate market.

Heidi Toornman

Director CBC & Office Leasing Specialist

Heidi is the Director of Creekside Business Center and directly responsible for complete operation, leasing and management of our Kalamazoo business center. Heidi also focuses on the lease-up of our firm's portfolio office space through the marketing of this space and assisting prospective tenants to meet their space objectives through property selection and interior space planning. Heidi holds a Bachelor of Science from Grand Valley State University and excels in customer service and problem solving.

Holly Babb

Administrative Assistant / Marketing

Holly joined the MRG team in 2011. Holly earned her real estate license in 2008 and has several years of experience as an independent agent and as an executive assistant. Holly is the main contact point for the office and works in a supportive role to brokerage, accounting, and property management. Some of her responsibilities include scheduling, updating property data, research, comparative analysis studies, tenant communication, and the marketing of our portfolio. Holly was born and raised in the Kalamazoo area and lives in Portage with her husband and two daughters.

Alison Helmus

As Midwest Realty Group Bookkeeper, Alison is responsible for A/P, A/R, payroll and the preparation of financial statements for the multiple properties managed by Midwest Realty Group. Alison received her Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University, specializing in Finance, Accounting and Economics. Her past professional experience includes employment at a local non-profit, a small family-run business and a large public accounting firm.
